If you're in the U.S. they have ships going from either California or Seattle now to Japan.That's the quickest alternative.it takes 5 days to get there

Work for import/export companies that go to Japan, by ship. It won't be quick, but it's not by plane.

take your time japan aint going anywhere soon, travel up through south east asia thailand laos cambodia in through china work your way north to shanghai then get the ferry to osaka takes two days by ferry but its a relaxing time
