Are there any 'work-at-home' positions that are not scams?

I see so many advertised and wondered if anyone could tell me if there are real positions like this and not scams of full of provisions/limitations, etc. I'm not looking to start my own business from home which seems to be what most of these 'work-at-home' internet advertisements are about. I am more interested in the positions that are 'data entry' or that employ you in their company, not help you start your own. I go to school full time and I don't want to send my toddler to day care just yet, so I've started thinking this may be a good route for me. Online jobs are a joke... you're better off starting a business. The world is changing and being a slave to employment will keep you broke.

Don't let other people fill your head up with scam talk. The truth is that there are more scammers than scams. I'm sure you are a smart adult, you will know what is c**p and whats not.

You've got the right idea thinking about working for a company that will let you work at home and being skeptical about all the ads on the internet.

This is called 'teleworking', so look to see if there is a teleworking association in the country you live in, they don't usually advertise jobs but you will find out what is involved a bit.

Those are usually scams. Anyone who ask for cash .. of course, right off the bat, it's a scam. They should be paying you, not other way around.

Also, if they ask you to fill out forms online, it's a scam. All documentation that has employee data (Name, date of birth, SSN) must be stored in house (within the company). It's the law. Plain and simple.

Only way I see you working at home as data entry is if you are working as an assistant and are severely injured or something. Then you get to "telecommute" -- the legitimate "work at home" job. But even then, taking care of a kid while your boss is demmanding the next spreadsheet to be done within the hour is still very tough. So think it over -- maybe aunt / uncle / someone else can take care of kid while you're at work?
