Question:

Are there any Bi-lateral (below the knee) amputees? ?

My wife lost both of her legs below the knees about 1 year apart and just needs someone to talk to who knows the situation. She is a diabetic and has gone to the brink of depression. She is 38 and Native American. Cherokee. We have 4 kids ages 15,14,11 and 9. Our daughter is our oldest. We do our best to keep her spirits up but sometimes our best efforts only bring her a forced smile that she gives us for our own sake. Before this happened, which all happened pretty quick, she was always full of life and on the go. We assure her all of the time that she will walk again but she's ready to give up. WE WILL NOT LET HER GIVE UP! Although someone with a similar situation who's been through this will greatly be appreciated. She also likes to write (snail mail) so she's also looking for a penpal.

  1. This question might get reported so you probably want to rephrase it.

There are numerous organisations and ways to find affected people over the internet and locally:

also, may I say that bi-latera amputees have a good chance of 'walking' again - at least to a certain degree.

    good luck
