General Social Survey (U.S.) data demonstrate that s*x, ethnicity, religious beliefs, intelligence, geographic region, and financial or physical insecurity reliably and independently predict whether individuals refuse to eat meat for moral or environmental reasons.

Vegetarians have more social contacts and group memberships than meat eaters and hold social and political attitudes consistent with low prejudice, authoritarianism and social dominance orientation independent of their reliably liberal political views.

Lots of black folks are vegetarian.  Much of the Seventh Day Adventist community in our area is black and many of them don't eat meat.

Yes, there are many many many black vegetarians. for instance Bob Marley is an example. Many rastas are vegans and they do not eat any salt or perservatives. there are many black vegetarians all over the world. Many of them are usually the "afrocentric" type of black people. Many blacks that follow  or have interest in African and Carribean culture are often vegans.

What a fabulous question,and i must admit i have never met a black veggie.

Been racking my brains for ages,and your so right,i don't know any.

That's sad too,as i love everyone,and it must be hard in your home being veggie,i have seen some of the cookery shows that cook all that fatty stuff and chicken etc.

Sure, I know a few African Americans who are members of Hare Krishna. They are all vegetarians.

I know quite a few. They became vegetarians in or after college though, they said it would have been too hard to do so at home. My best friends are black and are both vegetarians and have raised their kids that way (when the kids are older they will let them choose for themselves to eay meat or not).
