Are there any Charities in the US for encouraging literacy in adults and young adults as well as children?

I'm looking for a charity to see about joining or donating something to, but I'd like it to be a charity that encourages literacy in all ages.

there are many literacy programs in the U.S. - one of the ones you may have heard of is RIF (reading is fundamental) -  here is the url to their website

i would also check within your community to see if any of the schools or libraries is involved in assisting children & adults locally.

nice to know that people still understand that knowledge (including the ability to read) is power.
