I tend to vote Democrat Locally and used to vote Republican Federally (now I'm forced to vote Libertarian). I'm curious if there are any Democrats out there who believe in graduated government powers so the federal government can stay focused on real issues like Iraq and the states and local governments can focus on petty issues like welfare.

  1. I do not believe the government has any business messing with a woman's womb.

As for Iraq, that is another area they had NO business getting involved in.

d**n republicans got us involved in Vietnam, now they have us involved in Iraq.  Neither country was a threat to this country, just many lost lives and many lost dollars.

  2. Yes. I was a registered libertarian before Bush destroyed the nation. I am voting democratic to the extent they want to reign in our spending on the military and retool our ridiculous foreign policy. Once that is done, and the government is open and the media gets back to doing its job (instead of being right-wing hacks like they all are now) I'll go back to voting libertarian... maybe

  3. The problem with public forums is that you can say anything and there's really noone to challenge it.

First, there are a few comments left that are factually untrue.  For instance, "d**n Republicans got us involved in Vietnam".  Untrue.  The escalation and proliferation of violence can be laid on the lap of JFK and LBJ.  Hardly Republicans.  Secondly, except for Fox News, I don't think the media has even been the slightest bit conservative.  The days of Edward R. Murrow and Walter Cronkite are over.  They are all wannabe tv stars now.

To the question at hand.  There are plenty of people out there who believe in the original ideas and platforms of the Democrtaic Party.  The DP is 180 degrees different than what it was intended to be.  Same as the Republican Party.  Thomas Jefferson and Abraham Lincoln would throw up if they were alive to see what's become of American politics.  Senator Liebermann is more conservative than alot of Republicans out there.  In my view he's a bit more of the traditional Democrat than, say, Obama who is d**n near a socialist.  On the flipside, McCain is more of the true Republican than George Bush.

    Anyway that's my two cents.

  4. You think feeding ther poor and sheltering people who are homeless is "petty?"

If you're a Democrat, I'm the Queen of England.

Oh, and the Federal Government has no business in my womb or in peoples' bedrooms.

  5. It appears the extreme left-wing who have taken control of the party are just fine with traditional dems. There isn't an issue on the planet that they believe government control won't cure. As in the past, I point to the failure of existing government agencies as a precursor to future events. The FBI, FEMA, IRS and DMV are classic examples of bureaucratic ineptitude. Although hardly petty, the extreme left-wing element now controlling the democrat party believe expanding entitlement programs is essential. What they don't detail is the astronomical cost of their plan to tax payers.
