My girlfriend is a plant and flower nut. She has very green thumbs; and I wanted to surprise her with something beautiful and exotic for her garden.

I need some suggestions of beautiful, colorful, unusual, and reasonably priced Hawaiin or possibly some other type of tropical flower or plant that I can order for her to put in her garden.

We live in the Hudson Valley of New York in Westchester, so if it's at all possible, I would love to get something that would flourish in this climate that could be brought in the house during winter and continue to grow.

  1. Consider how different the climates are, and you'll realize nothing from Hawaii will grow there.

You are better off buying her some anthuriums and plumeria that she can put in pots that she can take inside during the winter.

Your local garden center will be able to advise you more specifically, and probably can order the plants for you. That would be a cheaper alternative to a florist.

  2. Try calling a nearby florist and they hopefully answer your questions. I found a huge online list of New York local florists. http://www.localfloristsonline.com/New-Y... I suggest visiting a florist near where you live.
