Well, here is a listing of rinks "near" San Francisco (warning - some are just sports arenas, so do look at their sites if they have one).

Perhaps you can visit one of them - like maybe in Oakland?

Ice Center of San Mateo will sell you Riedells.  

There's a Jackson dealer in San Mateo named Jimmy - you have to google Jackson dealers and you'll come up with dealers who might be nearer to you.

If you go down the peninsula you've got the pro shop at Ice Oasis in Redwood City.  He deals in Riedells.

In South San Francisco you've got SP Teri, but are you a beginner?  These are premium skates.  Along the same lines, the Harlick factory is in San Carlos.
