I'm trying to find any japanese specialty stores that sell food like mochi(kusa mochi, those big green round ones), dango and ningyoyaki like the ones found in Asakusa as a relative once told me there used to be one a long time ago somewhere between Las Pinas and Paranaque but has closed since then. Normally I would ask a friend to buy as a pasalubong (souvenir), but currently no one I know is in Japan right now. I also tried making from scratch but to no avail. Yellow pages didn't come up with any result.

  1. There might not be a Japanese store specializing in sweets or pastries, but there are many Japanese and Korean Grocery stores that sell Japanese food, including sweets and pastries.

The pioneer Japanese mini-market is called Fuji. There is a big store at Adriatico Street, near Malvar. There are also many Korean shops.

At the Glorietta Carpark, across the street from Landmark, there is a Japanese store that makes fresh Sushi and sells Japanese food products. The store has several refrigerated display cases full of Japanese pickles, sushi ingredients and sweets.
