Are there any Japanese TV programs in the States?

I am moving to Virginia and want to know if their is any Japanese TV programs on cable or Satellite?

cable and satellite will remaine the same, only the tv stations will not be broacasting in analog, you will have to get a converter box to hdtv if you have the old standard set, cable tv and sat will take care of the rest if you have their service,if you have the new hdtv ,you are all set. no prob.and go to the worrld sat, or eastern block sat, i think they will pick up the eastern countries, not sure though. go on line and see world  sat receivers and dishes..

most any japanese tv in the US is cartoons like pokemon but there are some latenight(early morning) shows that deal with japanese anime that are more adult oriented you just need to check your local listings to find them(imunautia) is a good show to catch

Well, first I should inform you that by February of next year, all TV programs must be moving to cable, no more satellite.

My friend recently showed me animes, japanese cartoons basically. But that is it, there aren't really regular japanese shows.

there's several cartoons dubbed into English as already mentioned but if you want to watch tv straight from Japan, then you can pay for what the Japanese community pays for: TV Japan (also already mentioned)

since this is directed towards Japanese, you aren't going to find many shows with subtitles, however I believe the news is subtitled. also I've seen a show about learning English and I thought it was very useful for learning Japanese because they point out things and explain it in Japanese.
