I am in Ottawa now, but originally from BC. So you can guess I have higher expectations on the Japanese or Korean groceries. I was a bit taken aback by the Chinatown here and have been ordering from suzuya.ca except they have very limited varieties.

  1. Not alot, what area of the country are you in, I can direct to to some local spots maybe, leave a message on the question.

Your right I am from Toronto (still here) and we were spoiled, I used to work as a chef in Vancouver, here it is not problem, I have not been to Ottawa in a few years, and most places here do offer a mail order or on-line thing, you may have take a road trip here and shop, let me know and I can direct you to the right places, I shop in the Korean area here each week, got to get my Kimchee supply.

  2. try www.AsianFoodGrocer.com

I have used them many time for specialty items i could not find locally.  Not sure if they ship to Canada, but it's worth a try.
