Are there any MLB teams that you think should be retracted?

I am thinking the Nationals and the Reds. Baseball is too watered down and was a much better product with less teams.

  1. I can't think of any MLB team I'd retract. The only sport I can think of that needs to retract and relocate teams is the NHL. I'm a huge hockey fan, but I don't think the league needs teams in North Carolina and Miami. (Tampa Bay and Atlanta can stay, though. As can Dallas and Phoenix...for now.)

As for your suggestions, here's my take.

Getting rid of the Nationals and Reds is short-sighted thinking. For one, the Reds are a historic team and have been around since the 1880s. You mean eliminating the team that brought baseball Johnny Bench, Joe Morgan, Eric Davis, Dave Concepcion, Barry Larkin, Ken Griffey Sr. and Pete Rose is a good idea? To junk them now because they haven't been successful lately is just an awful idea.

As for the Nats: They only moved to Washington three years ago. Give them time, would ya? If they were ever going to be retracted, it would have been while they were in Montreal and that was mostly because of bad management by Jeffrey Loria, the current Marlins owner. And if any team was going to be withdrawn, it's Florida. Sure, they've won two World Series in their existence, but after each championship, the owners (Wayne Huizenga after '97, Loria after '03) junked the teams and made them glorified minor league teams. Not to mention the Marlins' attendance, aside from their World Series years, has been dreadful. Perhaps it's because Dolphin Stadium isn't the best baseball venue, but let's be real. More people should be going to those games.

Washington deserves a chance to keep playing, especially since they've only been there for a short time and they only moved into their new park just this season.

    Please re-think your suggestions. Thanks.

  2. The Reds? What makes you think that? Clearly you have no clue about the history of MLB. Might I suggest you look it up.

I would "retract" The Rockies and The Rays.

  3. The Rays...they're in first o.O!

  4. I can't think of no teams that should be retracted & the Reds have so much history in baseball.

  5. The Washington Nationals

and if Pittsburgh doesn't do something soon to get better, they might as well be too.  It's a shame to see such a historic franchise being treated like an old pond, sitting and growing moldy

  6. The Oakland A's can disappear.  They are little more than a AAAA team anyways.  The GM Beane is always working on the team for three to four years down the road.  As soon as any player who is halfway decent approaches arbitration eligible or free agency, they are traded away for "prospects".  They play in a horrible stadium, nobody knows who the players are anymore, and no one would miss the team going away outside of the 2,500 hardcore fans that they have.  Good riddance!

  7. I'm a Nats fan, but if you get rid of them the thing is, all we have is the Redskins and Caps. Don't get me wrong, I'm a HUGE caps fan, but we need baseball. (nobody cares about DC United around here)

  8. Same here they both suck

  9. No i think all teams r fine the way they r i mean some need improvement but they'll get it even if a takes a nother couple of prspects, but they shouldn't be retracted.
