Question:

Are there any Navy nurses out there?

I'm going to be a freshman at Villanova University in Philadelphia and I'm thinking about joining the NROTC program. I'm also in the nursing school. I'm looking for advice from anyone who's a Navy nurse who did or didn't go through ROTC, as well as anyone currently in ROTC. What's the best part of being in the Navy and what's the worst? Is there a high likelihood that a brand new nurse would be sent to Iraq on their first duty? How hard is it to get a ROTC scholarship? Any advice at all would be lovely :)

  1. These are all questions  you can ask your NROTC staff.  Also you can look up the Navy Nurse Corps online and read about their job.  The Navy is awesome.  They don't normally send booter anybody's to Iraq.  You will do a lot of time in a Naval Hospital or branch clinic but eventually you will either deploy to Iraq directly or go to some other aid point on a US Navy Hospital Ship.  Either way you are pretty safe with your job.  Keep and open mind and go for it, it is the best life ever and never a dull moment.  Scholarships need to be earned like anything else.  Work hard and take on leadership positions that you excel at and you have a great chance of getting one.  Good luck.
