Xbox 360 controller for windows. It is the best controller for the pc. I have it and have had no problems with it on xp AND vista.

Get wireless or wired. If you have anything in your house running at 2.4ghz (router, phone etc..) get the wired. Otherwise, go wireless.

After this, use a program called xpadder (www.xpadder.com). There is a guide for newbies etc... Just make sure you run xpadder in administrator mode if ur using vista.
