Are there any academic based academies held at major universities in your area for high school students?

The university I work at is starting one and I just wanted to get a feel of what's out there already. Thanks!

our school  in colroad teams up with local industries and the local  college. CU boulder and there is a class of kids that do scientific research projects with them i.e lazer optics and reall complicated stuff

was i'm a math teacher  i dotn now much about the program but they put in a lot of hrs outside school. u  basically  put that class int eh afternoon f their schedule and they go off campus+ own time

they cant really get involved in athletics or anythign else. they have produced some amazing research!
