  1. Ricky Tomlinson started in Brookside late in life, now look at him. I think he was a builder and a trade union activist, for which he went to prison, so he really turned his life around!

  2. yup! harrison ford was a carpenter, and julia roberts only became an actress after her brother got into it.  you can start out small.  this site should be able to help you:  hollywood-opportunities(dotcom)

  3. Tonight alone I've answer 2 Questions regarding age, and my feeling remains intact. What possible difference can it make at what age anyone begins to explore an interest, desire, passion?

I'll assume you are not 14, and certainly mean no offense to the majority here, who are, but I'm amazed at how anyone can assume that younger is BETTER for anything. That might also equate to OLDER is better for anything.

I'm 64. I refuse to NOT DO, what I most want to do, and will do what I can get away with until I'm worm food.

In so many cases I want to assume that the young believe starting young gives them an edge, more time in the BIZ, a larger scope of experience. I believe, in very common terms, "IT AIN'T WHAT YA KNOW,,,it's how you apply what ya know that matters."

  4. ROWAN ATKINSON - naturally as Mr. Bean is an after thought ACT BY HIMSELF.

  5. after getting her BSc, Lisa Kudrow became an amatuer comedian...eventually becoming a actress

  6. me

  7. Dear RitaAKARena,

First, let me assure you the acting business is the most age conscious there is. Ageism today in the business is like sexism was to feminist back in the 70-80's; Rampant, prominent and pervasive. And if anyone suggests otherwise, they have not been to an audition without hair coloring in the last three years or less.

Second, when it comes to acting, the funny thing about it, unlike most other careers, the longer you're at it, the better you'll become. So, by the time you are considered too old, you'll have hit your prime in terms of ability and maybe even box office appeal. Just ask Robert Redford. Of course, there is a bit of bias for male actors who can get away with letting the grey hair show through. At bit tougher of a sell for women unfortunately.

But all said and done, if your "Mature" already and want to start an acting career, I say just do it.... You won't be the first nor the last...
