Are there any adorably cute ear piercings that are not in the cartilage while also not on the lobe? And if there aren't, are there any cartilage piercings that do not hurt too bad? I really want a new piercing, but the earlobe piercings are so ...typical. If only I had the courage to get my tragus pierced like I want.

  1. No, there aren't. If you feel the edge of your ear, you can feel where the cartilage starts above the lobe. After that, you whole ear is cartilage, including all of the piercings shown in the diagram linked above, other than the lobe and horizontal lobe.

That said, thinner cartilage won't hurt most people as much as thicker cartilage. For instance, a helix or rim piercing shouldn't hurt as much as a conch piercing. But there are other things to consider- how much will the healing hurt? A helix piercing goes through thinner cartilage and won't hurt as much to have done, but it's on the outside edge of your ear and will get bumped around a lot. You might accidentally sleep on it for a few hours or knock it with your phone. A more protected area, like the rook or daith, won't be bumped around as much (esp if it's done with a barbell) and so it won't be as sore for the months of healing. Because cartilage takes months to heal- usually anywhere from 6-12. A rook, daith, tragus, etc, can be super cute. And it'll only hurt for a second! My helix was the least painful cartilage piercing but got sore more often. My conch was the more painful, though not bad, because it's the thickest cartilage. My rook is tucked away so nicely that putting the jewlery in was more painful than the needle going through, just because it was so hard to maneuver inside my ear. I'm not sure if my rook or conch is my favorite ear piercing. I go back and forth on that one. But if you're looking for "adorable," I'd go with something like rook, daith, tragus, helix, etc.

  2. I want my tragus pierced too but I hear it hurts like h**l and takes forever to heal. Here's a picture of the different ear piercings you can get:
