  1. NO!

ive seen some kids skiing that i wonder if they can even walk.

  2. as long as the child can walk its OK. i learned to ski at 2 and did just fine. as far as older people go as long as they feel comfortable. skiing is not the easiest on the body and they should know that before them go... i have see 80 year olds out there tearing it up!

  3. Able to walk, go to the restroom on their own, and have an attitude of want to, rather than a lack of wanna.

  4. Only as long as they can walk!! 2 year olds are seen on the slopes! but they have to be able to balance and walk! I taught 4 and 5 year olds skiing years ago!

  5. I learned when I was 3.

Most mountains have day care programs while the parents are skiing at a certain age (2 or 3) they will have part of the daycare as learning to skis. Usually an hour or two in the morning and in the afternoon.

Once they can walk they can ski!

  6. Hey Brandon M,  Age is relative.  Skiing requirements are more about size, ability, attitude and condition.  On the slopes you will see ages ranging from kids just out of diapers and Great Great Grandparents exchanging walking canes for ski poles.  SkiMan out.

  7. there are no age limits on skiing, but you should definantely pick the difficulty of trails that you go on based apon your ability to ski. and if its an infant than 3 years old is a good age...

  8. ya your a f'in 2 planker

  9. At Perfect North Slopes in Indiana I see young'ns all the time. Probably depends on the skill level and location of where you are skiing.

  10. only in the bar.

  11. Some ski schools won't take students younger than 3, but that policy varies and is usually loosely enforced.

Everyone develops at a different pace. I don't like to give lesssons to kids any younger than 4. But there are other instructors I know that are very good with this age level.

The best students I've ever had were kids 9-13. It's probably because I can relate to them well, they are old enough to comprehend things, and they usually don't have the attitudes older teens have. It's also the age level where I learned how to ski, so I can say...well...If I could do it their age, they should be able to do it too.

As for the other end of the spectrum...I know guys in their 80s that ski almost everyday.

  12. It all depends on the kid. I started skiing when i was 2 but that was probably because my mom was a ski patroler and my dad was a ski instructor. When i taught skiing the resorts policy was 3+.

I would call wherever you are planing on going and ask their policy. But most importantly get that child a helmet whenever you do.
