  1. Yes, there are a lot of alternative energy groups working hard to solve problems that many do not even know exist. It is tough competing with big entrenched heavily subsidized energy companies. These companies are also big contributors to political groups, and so most politicians are not eager to speak against their source of re-election money.

We common folk should really be thankful that companies like "Google" are working hard to give us a safer, cleaner future. In fact check google for the things they are doing at their own business and for their own automobile fleet and start growing your knowledge from there. Most of us just talk and dream and hope someone else will do like a previous writer noted "think out of the box" and save our butts. We certainly cannot count on either our politicians or entrenched energy companies to give us what our children need. Take everything entrenched energy folks say as just so much sales pitch.

Don't get caught up in the global warming battle. Ask not whether your planet is getting warmer. Experts disagree. Ask whether your planet is getting dirtier. Nobody in their right mind could disagree with that. And that is what we need to solve. After you have done your own research, do your part and rattle some cages. Help make our only Earth a clean safe place for our offspring. And then if the planet continues to get warmer even after our best efforts, buy beach towels, sun tan lotion and cool drinks.

  2. Agree with above.  But, breaking the pattern and profit making structures is a "long road to hoe" and it takes special interest groups and frankly "kinda crazy" people thinking outside the box to make a change.  By the way, I am doing my part, with a product being released next month.

  3. Well, yes. There are groups building vast arrays of wind machines. China, much of Europe, and recently India have all been installing large areas of photovoltaic panels.

Wherever the cost of providing power from fossil fuels goes up, it appears that we get lots of alternate energy projects.

For the past few years there has been a global shortage of silicon needed to produce photovoltaic panels, so there has been a plateau in expansion. We now have new supply, but already we can see that this will soon again be a limiter if we continue to use primarily silicon.

Ontario, Canada has a contract under which we can receive $.42 per kWh, enough to pay the cost.

But the reason we need this is that alternate energy is competing with heavily subsidized fossil fuel (coal) electricity.

We are building lots of wind power to be sold at a mere $.11 /kWh.  It is still practical to build wind farms at that price.

We can buy Chinese made wind machines that turn a profit within the first week of delivery.

So yes, people are doing something. It takes money to make money in this business, however.
