Are there any animal hospitals who will let you have a payment plan in Ohio?

My sister's dog needs to have surgery to remove a tumor. It will cost between $860-$1,400 for this surgery. It will save her life because she has cancer. The dog is only 3 years old. My sister cannot afford this, and is trying to find an animal hospital who will let you set up a payment plan, instead of having to pay it all at once. She really doesn't want her dog to die. We live in the Columbus area, so we would prefer it be somewhere close to that. Please help us!! We don't know what else to do!!

Most vets will do a payment plan if you talk to them ahead of time about the situation.

What you should do is call and ask.  If they aren't able to assist you in payment arrangements, you can apply for Care Credit.

most vets do not set up payment plans..   because very few people pay them back!

If you have a vet that you are a known client and in good-standing, the vet may make an exception for you...  even then, many vets are leery to set up payment plans.  They just cant afford to pay everyone's vet bills when they dont want to pay them!

Your sister should first try www.carecredit.com  its a credit card that can be used for vet care.  After applying for care credit, try www.imom.org.

Have you tried calling the Ohio State University School of Veterinary Medicine? A lot of universities will do surgeries for free or a nominal fee so that their students get practice.

Has she even asked any vets yet?  Most that I know will set up a plan.  Sometimes they need a visa card number incase you skip town.

Check to see if there is a veterinary school in your area.  They will usually do that type of thing for a lot less because it's a learning opportunity for their students.  They would also be up to date on the newest procedures and treatments.
