Are there any animal products in bread?

I feel silly for asking this, but I'm a vegetarian and I'm thinking about going vegan. So basically, do vegans eat bread?

Yes, bread is easily vegan. You just have read the label and make sure it doesn't have honey, milk, or eggs.

Some specialty breads also have cheese.

I buy fresh baked bread from my local bakery, sarah lee, and cottage bread. But theres TONS more you can pick from at the grocery store. Along with english muffins, bagels, etc.

Just make sure to read the labels!

Some recipes have butter.  Eggs and milk too.

French bread is normally just flour, water, yeast and salt.  And it is readily available.

There are only animal products in bread if there are any animals in the way of the harvesting tractor when plowing.

Many breads you find in the grocery store have eggs or milk in them, but you can find vegan breads.  There are quite a few sprouted breads. Ezekiel bread, Manna bread, Julian breads, those are some that come to mind.  These are all sprouted and besides no animal products, they have wholesome ingredients.

The only way to be sure is to make it yourself.  Many bread recipes have milk, eggs, or butter... but not all.  French bread would probably be OK, but read ingredient labels to be sure.

If you're really not into making it yourself, you could try Ezekial bread, which I tried sometime ago and it was very good.  I'm not sure of the spelling, but I know you can find it at stores like Wild Oats or Whole Foods.

yeah, but who cares!?! I understand not wanting to eat meat, but what the heck is wrong with not eating the eggs chickens lay, or the milk we squeeze from cows?!? You people just like something to complain about.  Go eat a burger.
