Question:

Are there any baby cabinet/drawer locks that adhere without screws?

I'm trying to find something to keep our 18 month old son out of our kitchen cabinets and drawers. However, we live in an apartment and were told we'd be unable to apply regular baby drawer locks because our landlord doesn't want s***w holes in the cabinets. I've seen magnetic Tot Lok ones but they're SO expensive (like $20 for 2-4 locks). Has anyone found similar adhesive-mount locks for less money than this? Thanks!

  1. There has got to be something for drawers.  I have adhesive locks for my pantry door and my fridge.  You'd think there would be something similar for drawers at Babies R Us or somewhere like that.  Good luck.

  2. The adhesives don't work, my 19 month old daughter pulled them right off when she tugged on the door. Tell your landlord it is a safety issue, there are actually laws stating that you are allowed to place these. We had the same situation and explained how my daughter defeated the both the ones with adhesives and the kind that goes around k***s(we have them, lol), and he allowed us to place them. The screws are only a quarter of an inch long, and don't go all the way through. Tell him you'll put wood putty in the holes afterward, because the safety of your child  comes first. If not, you may be forced to move, and sue him for all your moving expenses and whatnot, all because he wouldn't let you make some itty bitty holes in a piece of wood. The courts will award you your deposit and whatnot back because it's a serious safety issue and you moving early will not be a violation of your lease. So ask him politely again and explain the safety issues, or ask him to provide the totlocks( u can deduct it from your rent) as it's not a resonable expense expected of you. Or ask him to install a lot of upper cabinets at his expense because you won't be able to use the lower ones. Landlords can be soo retarded sometimes, I realize that they need to take care of their property, but if they don't want to own a place that's been lived in, they need to not be a landlord.

  3. www.walmart.com I found adhevsie locks for my daughter who is the same age....as our landlord didnt want screwholes either!!!!

  4. My sister in law used these ===> http://www.safety1st.com/product/detail....  You can find them at babies r us and probably anywhere online. Also try these===> http://www.safety1st.com/product/detail.... or these===> http://www.safety1st.com/product/detail.... . If these aren't cheap enough, then try zip ties. buy a multi pack and cut them off when you need to open them.

  5. If you have k***s on your cabinets they have some that look like zipties that go around the k***s..
