Are there any bears left in the Scottish highlands?

I was reading an article about polar bear skull found in Scottish Highlands in 1927 which was over 18000 years old. But what I want to know is whether there are any brown bears, or bears of any kind left in Scotland?

  3. Not since Roman times.  Supposedly they valued the Caledonian bears as beng particularly ferocious in their areans etc.

  4. im afraid not...like most of the wildlife they have become extinct now....killed off for sport back in the middle ages

  6. There was one named "Hercules" on the Isle of Benbecula, who used to wrestle Mr Andy Robin. Andy was the better wrestler, but, Hercules was the better looking!

  8. I live in Scotland and have been to the scottish Highlands before and never seen any bears. So the answer would have to be no.

  14. I live in the Scottish Highlands near Drumnadrochit and I can honestly say, hand on heart, that there are no bears up here but the people who surface the roads are called Bear Scotland!  No joke - it's true!
