Are there any benefits of using chopsticks?

I mean, can you really train you brain by using chopsticks?

  2. No way, however i think being chinese myself, when eating in a chinese restaurant i use chopsticks to show respect for the culture. although when i am at home i use knife and fork

  3. well if you don't like it then throw away the chopsticks

    & use fork & spoon

    but if you don't like fork or spoon then throw away that

    & use you natural beautiful fingers.

    thats what I do, don't mind if people like it or not

    I do what I like.

    & what I feel comfortable doing, not for all the peoples shake.

    **and mind you I do know how to use chop sticks, forks & spoons.

  4. no nothing like tat.but trust me once u learn how to eat wth them noodles become more yummy.its easy.also yes because its difficult to eat wth them.once u learn how to eat wth em u hand and brain coordination becomes strong.

  6. I guess it could be dexterity training.  For me, it's more of a challenge to use them.  I usually give up about halfway through and switch to the fork.  But it's fun to try.

  9. I don't think so! But in In 2003, a study was done. It found that people who use chopsticks regularly have a slightly higher risk of getting arthritis in the hand. With this, cartilage gets worn off, which causes pain in the joints of the hand. This is more common in older people. Another problem is that using certain kinds of Chopsticks may lead to coughing or even asthma.

    The Hong Kong Department of Health did a study in 2006. It found that generally, people use chopsticks or other food utensils more often than in 2003 when eating with others. It also found that personal hygiene has improved.

  11. no dude! it's just a simple tool.

    we people use forks/ spoon to eat. chop sticks are used in chine to replace spoon.

    In some ways, it really helps building the concentration of the brain. the style and position of the chopsticks in your hands in for more tough that keeping a spoon/fork in your hand.

    your brain uses new ideas to hold the chop sticks causing the brain to concentrate on the subject

  12. you practice hand-eye coordination, especially if you're not used to using them. I know lots of non-Asian surgeons and musicians who eat with chopsticks and try to preform ordinary tasks like buttoning their shirt or brushing their teeth with their non-dominant hand. I don't use my hands a lot when I work, so I can't tell you if it works. My brother in law is a music teacher, and he says that it does help with speed and coordination when playing the piano.

    I use chopsticks because they make the food taste more authentic, and I normally get fuller faster because I eat slower.

  15. I don't know about training your brain but using chopsticks supposedly can help with weight loss. You can't shovel it in like as if you were using a fork or spoon. This allows time for your stomach to tell your brain you are full before it is too late.

    Keeps you thin - especially if you don't know how to use them.

    They can be used as a weapon - if the person next to you is annoying you, bust out your coolest kung-fu moves and "off" them.

    And for those who said using chopsticks can help to lose weight, they've never seen a hungry Chinese shovel rice in as if there's a famine. You can eat daintily with chopsticks even one rice grain at a time. But a commonly used method is to raise the rice bowl up to your mouth with one hand, place the edge of the bowl close to the lips, hold the chopsticks together with the other hand & then polish off a bowl of rice quickly by pushing food rapidly into your mouth.
