  1. Here is author Tina Brown's(The Diana Chronicles) explanation:

"There has never been a serious appetite among the British people for replacing the monarchy, however flawed, with a regime fronted by some official in a business suit. They tried a version of it after beheading Charles I and nobody much liked it then. For most Britons, the Crown is the golden thread that connects the people to the most glorious moments of their history, exercising a force for stability in an otherwise bewilderingly changing world...the Crown represents a constitutional force above politics..."

The monarchy means continuity and cohesion.

  2. yes their is the historical value us british have loyalty and the great tration other country are jealous of i hope we never have a president

  3. One of the hidden benefits of a constitutional monarchy is in its impact on trade, and this applies to every monarchy across the globe. For example, the marriage of Princess Mary to Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark has led to a surge in trade between Australia and Denmark. Now the UK travel authority, VisitBritain, has revealed that 57% of visitors to the UK cite the monarchy as the principal reason for coming.

Here is an excellent statement made by group leader Gladaman under the network "Return of the King" on MySpce.com

"A constitutional monarchy can balance and protect against power hungry, dishonest politcians and against a majority that pursecutes or ignores pursecution of minorities. When a monarch is not facing re-election they can represent all the people and not just the group who put them in power. When a politcian knows that the power is not his/her's and the monarch knows he/she can only exercise power through the people there can be balance."

"All the power belongs to the monarch but that power can only be used by those elected by the people. A monarch can bring stability to a society that cannot decide between powerful groups in their country. A monarch can bring consistancy to foreign relationships when governments change. A monarch can be a trained, experienced, confidential advisor to politicians new in office. All these benefits can be enjoyed with a Constitutional Monarchy."

  4. There are a couple. There is the stability. Also, people do develop an affection and loyalty to monarchs as long as they show some regard for them. One only has to look at the contentions of this presidential election period, to realize that it is wonderful for everybody to have a voice, but it can very easily become divisive. There is also the glamor of the castles, parades, jewels etc. This might seem expensive unless you consider the money tourism generates.
