Are there any boats that take passengers between Tampa and San Juan, Puerto Rico?

Not cruise ships -- I'm interested in something more like a freighter or small passenger boat.

no. only commercial airlines, American Airlines, Continental Airlines, Spirit, Delta, US Airways. etc.

None that go directly that I know of.  You can do it by island hopping... take the boat from the Port of Lauderdale or Port of West Palm Beach to the Bahamas and then go interisland from there.

Check out Spirit Airlines... the cheapest flights from Orlando to SJU and it's a whole lot easier than trying to go by boats that don't exist.
