Are there any books that describe what Christopher Columbus discovered when he first landed in the new world?

For example, what the land looked like, what kind of plant life existed, what sort of animals he found, or any mysterious findings? My question is not limited to Columbus. Such information about any "pre-America" explorer would be interesting tome.

he first landed on some island near cuba or something like that and he found natives and lied to them and stupid c**p like that. columbus was a jerk.

but anyways, the same normal plant life existed. it was all the same, minus the urbanization of today. just a lot of trees and native peoples.
