Are there any breeds of wolf that are possible to tame?

Question

I want to buy a huge wolf-like dog. What all breed are there similar to the German Shepard? Something for temperate region, Huskies aren't an option.

you should NOT tame a wolf

they are wild animals and have been on the brink of extinction

you need to do more research on wolves and dogs alike. Huskies can do fine in a temperate region (it's just a bit hot) and there aren't "breeds of wolves" but species

stick with dogs.

German Shepards are good, as are Huskies and Malamutes.

well in truth ALL dogs decended from wolves..

Malamutes are close to wolves..

you might like the look of a Keeshond or Sheba Inu

Shepards are not wolf like at all.. they are herding and guard dogs.. where as wolves are hunting.. so do you mean physicall appearance or behavior?

I have an alaskan malamute    she is beautiful   everyone says she looks like a wolf

I don't know of any breeds of wolf that are tameable and in alot of states they are illegal to own.

Well I'm probably going to get lots of thumbs down because this answer is going to be controversal.

If you REALLY want a wolf, you can try to find a wolf-dog breeder in your area. They're sort of pricey. Check your laws to make sure they're legal. They're actually legal in more areas then you'd think. If raised correctly and given what they neeed they can actually make decent pets I hear...but they're RARELY good with small children.

Before you check out the link, YOU MUST read this article titled "So you think you want a wolf?" It'll might talk you out of it...but if it does that's a good thing for it means you aren't a proper owner.

Also according to my knowledge, the closest thing to a wolf that is actually a dog with the shortest hair is the German Shepard. Sorry...

TOTALLY, i know a guy who has them as pets, no clue what breed or exactly where he got them from, but yeah, and they are like, actual wolves, he brings them deer meat when he goes hunting and sometimes they howl whilst eating it lol

Wolves are not pets. It's unfair to them to try to make them into pets. I understand that many people have "tamed" them and claim they are wonderful. However, it is very selfish. You are trying to suppress their natural insticts which despite all the training and  time you will never do. Why a wolf-like dog?  Get a dog that will fit your lifestyle instead of getting one for it's looks.
