  1. There could be do your research.

  2. This is google's best offer:

For complete directory of California Culinary Schools:  www.CookingSchools.com

My first suggestion is try it out.  For informal classes, and by this I mean they are not necessarily for professional chefs, you could check out your closest Michaels and JoAnn's Fabrics.  Both are craft stores and they sell the materials as well as the classes.  It would give you an idea if it is what you really like.  Good luck.

  3. Find a Michael's or Hobby Lobby craft store near you and inquire about their Wilton Cake Decorating classes.  Sometimes community centers or senior centers offer them, too.

  4. Sure, here's another one.  Are you familar with downtown Sacramento?  There is a restaurant supply house right at the junction of where Highway 160 comes into downtown on 12th street (by the downtown ford dealership). It's called East Bay Restaurant Supply.  They have a state of the art classroom facility and give low-cost classes, including cake decorating.

I find it's a little more "upscale" than your Michael's crowd, which tends to go strictly with Wilton type stuff, but not overpriced.   Some of the offerings this summer are Introduction to Indian Cooking, Grilling Salads, and Desserts.  At other times, there are classes for cake decorating, sushi making, and more.

At East Bay, they have a website with a class schedule.  I've linked you to it, below.
