Are there any cameras that let you control the shutter directly...?

from the button you use to capture the photo? I haven't heard of this but I do know there are cameras that have extremely low shutter speeds to capture movement over time. Having direct control over the shutter without using one of the shutter speeds could pretty be convenient.

Anybody?

  1. I have a Canon A-590IS and I can change shutter,apeture and the ISO.

    They are about $179

  2. Most SLR and DSLR have a bulb setting where you can have very long shutter speeds

  3. I don't think so....you have to adjust the shutter speed if you want a longer exposure...I haven't heard of a camera that does it on its own

  4. In the digital world, mostly only DSLR's and the Canon G7 have the B-setting ,where you can control amount of time the shutter opens. There might be one or 2 other cameras with a b-setting. I think Fuji has one. It's a larger form factor, almost looks like a DSLR, but with a fixed lens.

For film cameras, the B-setting is very common in SLRs and quite a few rangefinder cameras.
