  1. No, because there are no sidings within the tunnel.  No stops are expected in there, either.  This may be a bit optimistic, especially these days.


  2. There are two sets of crossovers within the tunnel itself which connect the two main bores so that trains can continue to run should one of the bores become blocked (as happened when a train carrying freight lorries caught fire a few years ago), but these are not catch points.

    There are catch points outside the tunnel at the exit from the marshalling yards to prevent runaway vehicles access to the main running tracks.
