Like, you know how certain Asian groups have epicanthal folds I think they're called, and how they say Mediterranean are hairier, well do Greek, German, and English have any special features to them?

Also, I know that Greek is Meditteranean, so they'd probably be hairy too.

  1. Read H. S. Chamberlain & A. Hitler for the special features of the Germans. Daniel DeFoe for the traits of the "True Born Englishman", Homer for the Greeks.

  2. In most cases "certain features" are self-fulfilling prophecies. Decide a group has these characteristics then you'll tend to focus on them. As for people that don't have the feature? Best guess is one will ignore them.

That doesn't mean equating certain features to groups is false. After living in Asia, I was able to identify Japanese, Korean, Chinese and so on. It was more a gestalt rather then any one feature.

  3. Not after 2000 years of invasions and migrations!

While you do meet people who look just like ancient Greek statues they're not just Greek!

There are Italians who like Greek and vice versa.

Germans have more than one phsyical type!

The English well while some look very "Saxon" again 2000 years of migration.

Look my home city is referred to as the fourth largest Greek city in the world and I've meet Greeks who could be one of several types of ethnic European or East Mediterranean groups.

I'm still trying to figure out if the pide stall owners at the mall are Turkish Kurdish or Arab or their staff are a mixture of all three!

Given the history of Turkey there are probably plenty of modern Turks who have Jewish and Greek and other ancestry!

Never take it for granted an individual belongs to the ethnnic group you think they are unless they tell you sooo!

  4. Sterortypically, Germans are thought to be very tall, big & blonde, English are similar but leaner & wirier, more sandy-haired, Greeks are dark &curly haired and quite short.

However....a lot of Germans now are trying to discover their 'celtic' roots (many celtic tribes lived in germany once, esp in places like Bavaria), the lanky fair Englishman (and red haired Scot!)existed as a distinct type when the Romans invaded Britain, LONG before Saxons or vikings,& the Greeks of the most ancient times were often described as being fair-haired.

All Europeans are descended from seven women-certain clans went to one area more than another, but our similarities are greater than our differences!

  5. Cliche' maybe but there is the German blonde with blue eyes and the English with bad teeth. Perhaps the Greek would be physically pleasing, and draped in folds of clothing. Perhaps stereotypical...
