on my Pg&e bill, i have the option of using "green" energy.

(that costs a bit more.)

that means that they buy it from non-fossil sources,  some of which they own, and some of which are contracted.

if you wanted to know, it probably lists the companies on the PG&E website.

The oil companies own the alternative fuel resources. Anything that the scientist come up with the oil companies buy, look at the electric car by General Motors.
