Question:

Are there any complete homeschool curriculums that teach with a thematic approach out there?

What I mean is I have multiple children to teach and a limited amount of time per day. The one room school house approach is ideal. But it seems like I can not find anywhere that has this approach to schooling that is legitimate and high quality. Help! Ages of children are 7,5,4 (with a nearly two year old and one on the way!!) I understand some things must be separate. Like math.

  1. I would suggest Five in a Row, Konos, or Weaver.  There are others, but those three are the most complete, especially for younger ages.  They each have a bit different approach, but they're all very good.  Here are some links:

    http://www.konos.com/index.html

    http://www.fiveinarow.com/

    http://www.aop.com/weaver/

    Hope that helps!

  2. Sonlight sounds perfect for you. Since you kids are so close in age you can possibly use the same curriculum for all 3. They have age ranges in which each core is designed for. For core 1+2 its World History (you have to add a math) it also has science and Bible.

Take a look at http://www.sonlight.com If you need help feel free to email me.

  3. You may want to try Unit Studies.  There's a description and a list of programs here:

    Hope this helps!

  4. I have a friend doing Sonlight this way.   Lapbooking is also excellent to adapt the material to different age groups.
