  1. You can wear your contact lenses when you're swimming. Just don't get chlorine in your eyes which can soak into the lens. Keep your eyes closed when you're underwater and have a backup pair handy in case you lose one. There are some good daily disposables that you throw away at the end of each day. It's great for people who are active and are afraid of losing lenses. It may be an option for you.

  2. yes, contact lenses can be worn in water but be careful not to let the water get too much into your eyes or they might come off. Try to swim with closed eyes and don't rub your eyes too much.

However, it is always best to take the advice of your doctor.

  3. I swam competitively for years all throughout middle school and high school and I always wore contacts. Just make sure you have a good pair of goggles. To make sure goggles are the right fit, take them out of the package at the store and press the eye parts to your eyes to creat a vacuum seal. If they stay for a few seconds without needing to put the strap on, they fit you. If they fall off right away, keep searching for a new pair.
