Are there any copy right issues when you copy information into a blog?

  1. I would think it all depends on what type of information you are copying into the blog.  I don't think you can retype a book out into your blog and get away with it too easily.

    What most bloggers do is provide a 'via' link.  If you find a cool article on news.yahoo.com, after you write about it, at the bottom of your post, append via Yahoo News and make 'Yahoo News' a link to the article.

    This is just like writing papers for class, if you it isn't yours, don't make it look like or say it is yours.  Providing links will also make your readers happy that they can delve further into a topic.


  2. As long as you cite your sources and don't provide full copies of articles or whatever, you should be fine. If you're worried, you should read up on Fair Use laws. I'll give you some useful links.

    As you read through information on Fair Use, you may find that it can be rather vague. This is why there are so many copyright infringement suits.

  3. If you attempt to pass it as your original creation it might be construed as a copyright infringement... As long as you mention where the content comes from you can copy anything found on the web.
