No I doubt it as long as there are people who support horse racing and people who work in the horse racing industry it will never be banned.  

Also to the PETA people on this forum go get a life.  Get all the facts before you start preaching about how horse racing is cruel.

No, though there are probably a few smaller countries where it may not happen because there just isn't enough local interest.

Banning horse racing isn't going to happen because it certainly wouldn't do the horses any good, either.  Racing and other competitions are virtually the only use left for the horse, and without racing, dressage, Three-day Eventing, cutting horse competion, barrel racing, etc -- all of whom have a far higher injury rate than track racing -- you'd only see horses in zoos and a few riding stables.

Modern scientific breeding and training of horses, along with far better veterinary care, has done more to improve the well-being of horses than any pack of animal-rights wackos, most of whom are totally ignorant of horses except the propaganda they read on loony PETA websites.

Only in the sense of no gambling, but even in islamic countries you see horse racing.  

Approx 100x as many horses die each year becuse owners sell them to slaughter plants then die due to horse racing.

I do know that:

Horse racing was banned in San Francisco in 1901.

Horse racing was banned in America from December 21st - December 22nd, 1944.

Horse racing was banned in MA, on June 4, 1674.

Horse racing was banned in Canada in the Atlantic Colonies in 1771.

Horse racing was banned in Britain in November, 1967.

I highly doubt many of these bans are still in effect.
