I'm a fifteen year old American girl, and I'm going to Italy next summer. I've been told that the only thing that I have to worry about is pick-pockets. True?

  1. Si, come in qualsiasi posto. Fai attenzione alle truffe (fraud), gli stranieri vengono presi di mira più degli italiani. Ciao.

For Ash. Ahoo, ma te sei guardato! Te vorrei vede quanto sei brutto! A cosooo!

  2. Be careful of the cons out there too. When I was in Rome, there all these men trying to force a rose in my hand so I would have to pay for it. Just be sten and tell them forcibly no and you will be fine.

As for pickpocketers, just be aware of your surroundings and your purse. Really its no different then where you live.

  3. apart from the greasy italians - not much

  4. Hey hun! I'm seventeen and I just got back from a cruise that stopped in Italy for 5 days.

It was such a beautiful place. I know that I will move there someday! I have never felt so safe in my life but I too was told to beware of pickpockets.

The fact that you already know that helps a lot.

While in Rome I purchased a purse and it had a zipper on it. That made me a lot more comfortable.

Italy is like nowhere else on Earth. You will love it. Do not let the threat of pickpockets which is present at all European tourist attractions ruin your trip.

I visited Turkey, Greece, and last but certainly not least Italy. No one in any of my tour groups were victimized and you won't either.

Do not let this ruin your trip.

    Have fun!

    Ciao!!!

  5. You are Correct.

  6. I am Italian so I think I can help you. I live in a (more or less) pretty good city, (Florence), and I have some tips to give you:

    - careful of the pickpocket when you're on the bus or in the crowd, (like everywhere else)

    - every city has good and bad parts; search informations about that on the net and DON'T GO IN THE BAD PARTS ALONE AFTER HALF PAST TEN PM (but then again, like anywhere else; you're too young to go wandering around alone in the bad places)

other than that, you'll be fine. there are better cities and less good ones, but you'll be fine anyway. I've lived here for 22 years and got my purse stolen just once so it's not even so bad. careful about getting drunk and wandering alone too.

I hope I've been clear enough, and sorry if my english sucks ^^'

    bye!

  7. Yes.. I'm italian, youm just have to worry about pick'pockets, like every others countries...

Don't worry, it isn't a dangerous as "JEM rispetta la terra" says... he's just exagerating.. then, it depends of where he lives.. of course, if he lives in naples, that's more dangerous that Turin, where i live.. Anyway, north is more safe than South...

Just pay attenction at your wallet and at your document, then think to have fun!!

    ciao

  8. In italy, now, everything is dangerous...there is a very big crime. You shouldn't be very worried, you only have to keep out of some situation...you should travel with a man or with a lot of people.

    Sono italiano..ciao

  9. Be careful of the gypsies. They get small groups of children to surround you to beg for money. While one holds up a card in your face to block your vision, another one tries to get into your bag to get your $$.

  10. Travelling in Europe is much safer than travelling in the US.

Just be aware of your surroundings and don't leave bags or cameras lying around eg on cafe tables.  Always keep these things on your person.

  11. yeah, most definitely be aware of them.

and a word of caution: the men here are very persistent if they are interested in you and they will stare. IGNORE them and do not lead them on in any way if you don't want their attention. have fun!

  12. Like in every touristic city, the crowds and the confusion attract thieves. I can suggest you to always be aware of your belongings and to put your valuables in different places, spread them so even if they rob you, they won't get all what you have. The most dangerous places are train stations and very crowded places.
