I'm doing a paper on texting and I wondered how text messaging has affected you? How has it changed your interaction with people?

  1. I'm sure deaf people text message with phones.

  2. I am not deaf, but my sister is. She has a testing addiction! She loves it! It's so much better for her than her TTY, as she can take it everywhere. And she has a lot of hearing friends who like to text, but in order for her to talk to the mon the phone, there has to be someone in the middle to translate the TTY tsxt to speech. So, she loves it, and it has changed her relationship with the world.

  3. My mother and aunt are deaf, but both have cochlear implants, so they can use the phone. But often, they email/ text each other instead (they both have blackberries and can email on the phone). They can talk to each other a lot more than they used to, but the cochlear implants are what have really changed their lives.

I have a cousin who is deaf as well and she's coming into the texting "age." She's almost 13, but she doesn't have a cell phone yet.

  4. I now get lots of mail encouraging me to buy p***s-enlargement pills. What I need is to restore my hearing. You would think they knew this.
