Are there any decent guns (rifle or pistol) that I can purchase for under $400?

Are there any decent rifles or pistols that are under $400 I will be using this gun only for hunting wild hogs. Thanks.

Heck ya there are!

"decent" isn't hard to get at all.

Sheesh....you can get one of those mosin-nagant Russian rifles for under $150 even. They "go bang" every time and are more than accurate enough for hawg huntin'.

Just depends on what you really want. Get off yer butt and go to a couple of local shops, check out what they got in the racks.

Huntin' hawgs is about gettin meat. Just about every gun maker out there makes a "decent" bang stick that will put meat in the back of a working mans truck...for under $400.00

For hunting hogs I would suggest looking for a used 30-30 or get a Mossberg 500 or Remington 870 12ga.

Price for the 30-30 will vary from location and condition of the gun.

The shotguns normally go for under $300. I got my 870 for a little over $300 after tax. Mossbergs are normally around $200. Barrel size really doesn't matter with pigs. If your gonna use a slug and go for distance get a longer barrel. If your gonna be in wooded areas and possibly walk up on them, get a shorter barrel.

Pistols are normally going to be a little more expensive. You will need at least a 357mag. and once again looking for a used one would be a good idea. Smith and Wesson is a good choice, I got mine for $492 after tax.

Savage, Mossberg and NEF sell guns for just under or right at $400.  They all shoot good, once you find the right ammo to run thru the gun.

Absolutely, just go to any local pawn shop or look in your newspapers classified section. I suggest a 12 gauge pump shotgun that takes up to 3" magnum slugs, .44 magnum or larger handgun or carbine, .30 caliber or larger high paowered rifle for taking hogs. Good hunting and hope this helped.

I have to agree with the individual who suggested the Mosin. 7.62 X 54R is more than powerful enough to kill most animals. The SP ammo is cheap and rifles in great shape are available for under 200.00.
