Are there any decent pay by the hour motels/hotels in nyc?

At one time many of the respectable hotels in midtown offered short stay rates.  They said that there were often people who needed a room for a couple of hours for other than illicit purposes.  Shoppers may need a break.  An after hours business meeting.  Perhaps a tryst.
