And if you are, what are your religious beliefs (or lack thereof)?

Oh, look... somebody actually asked a question on R&S because they were looking for an answer. Such a rarity.

Peace.

  1. Not an ecologist, but I have an answer as to why the Yamster wants to put so many questions in the hockey section. It's  the use of &. For some reason it sends the questions over there. You should see all the off-topic questions in that forum. No wonder hockey players are so angry.

  2. I wouldn't call myself a deep ecologist, but I do agree with its central thesis that humans are a part of the environment rather than separate from it.

The reason I don't consider myself a deep ecologist is because I take issue with the concept of nature having intrinsic value by virtue of the fact that it is nature.  I'm probably closer to a utilitarian environmentalist, but I also include the amount of pleasure/pain felt by all sentient beings as part of the overall utility (as opposed to those utilitarian environmentalists who think that the only justification for protecting the environment is to protect long-term human interests).

    EDIT:

On a side note, if it was ever discovered that living beings without central nervous systems were sentient, my version of environmental utilitarianism would pretty much be functionally equivalent to deep ecology.

I also don't know why Yamster likes hockey.

  3. Sorry, I can't answer the first part.  But the Yamster wants to put pretty much everything in hockey these days.  Yamster likes the NHL??

  4. I'm sure there are. After all, there's quite a few Wiccans on this board.

It's always about hockey, angel. I thought you knew that.

  5. answer: Yes. We recycle almost everything and try to do our best to reduce our "carbon footprint" and help the environment.

    reconstruct Heathenism (aka Germanic/Anglo-Saxon paganism)

not sure about Yamster - it usually wants to put my questions in the g*y/L*****n section and I haven't asked a G/L question yet.

  6. I am a scientific pantheist and an atheist.  I believe we have become the stewards of this planet and must preserve our environment stringently.  Without this planet, we all die.  There is no magical diety who will come back one day to clean up our mess.

As for the hockey issue... they have "key words" that will determine what category a question will be suggested to.  Some of the key-words are most strange.  I suspect the word "deep."
