Question:

Are there any energy efficient light bulbs that don't take a few minutes to light up?

Recently I have begun to change out my standard light bulbs with the energy efficient ones. The new flood light ones are great! Anyways, as you know, you turn on the switch, and usually the lights start off dim, and about 15 seconds later you have full brightness.

I would like to do our bathroom but wonder if anyone has seen a bulb that is energy efficient that turns on immediately at full power?

  1. I bought the ones at Home Depot and have them through out  my house and never have to wait for them to fully light.  I can't remember the brand though, sorry.

  2. Yes, there are. I have several. Can not give you the brand name, it escapes me now. Look for a name brand with the energy star on the package.

  3. yes , the ones you been using for the last 20+ years. stop the eco insanity,it is all bullshit !

  4. There are improvements made continually as the market demands. In the meantime, congratulations for doing your part to help the environment.

  5. LED lights come up to full brightness instantly, but they are way too expensive for most people now. I rather like the fact that bathroom lights start out a little dim and slowly get brighter because when I get up in the morning and turn on the lights my sleepy eyes are bothered by the sudden bright light. They don't start out THAT dim, just a little dimmer than full brightness.
