  1. The turnout that a person is born with is what they are stuck with for life. There is no way to increase your turnout, HOWEVER if your teacher says you need better turnout then it most likely means that you are not strong enough to use your full turnout (although it may seem like you are). Doing the exercises she gave you will help you get the strength you need to hold your turnout. Another exercise that will prepare you for pointe is standing on one foot on demi pointe. Toss a ball up and catch it, do this for 2 minutes than alternate feet. Once this gets easy try doing it on a bed. Make sure you don't let your heels touch the ground.

  2. you really should not go on top of your toes unless you are wearing pointe shoes. it can be really dangerous and bad for your feet because you don't have much to balance on. you can improve turnout by turning your feet out and pushing them on a wall and holding this for 30 seconds. repeat this many times and remember that you won't get on pointe any faster by going on your toes without pointe shoes.

i am 12 and have been dancing almost 9 years. i'm not on pointe because going on pointe early will damage your feet in your later life. also, you must take many classes to obtain and keep proper strength. so just be patient, its worth it...

  3. do pleas in each position (especially 2nd), do lots of tondus in 2nd and 5th, put your feet against a wall in turned out position and try to do pleas. also, don't go on your toes in ballet slippers. you could really injure yourself!!

  4. well all of your barre work is for your turn out. if you want a better turnout do what your teacher told you to do.  i'm 14 and i've had my point shoes since i was nine and just so you know they really do mess up your feet! and not to scare you but in the begging be ready for pain.  and when your teachers say put them on at home do it!! our teachers would always tell us to and the few of us that did really excelled! are point shoes broke in and we were over our boxes while the other poeples were just straight and were all complaining on how much there feet hurt and that they just CANT  break them in

yeah so, oh yeah i used to always do that go up on my toes in ballet slippers i still do nothing really happens thats bad from doing that

  5. I had the same sitch my Friend had gotten pointe shoes and I didn't and what made me more mad than anything was I was better then her I could go up on my toes in just ballet slippers too that was about 3 years ago but you should just do the stretches you teacher showed you since she/he is your teacher AKA the giver of pointe shoes but youtube.com is a good site for looking up ballet and stretches on and the middle splits will help some if you can sit in the middle splits with your feet turned out and try laying on your back feet together and try to make a good 1st position turn out from the hip and not to worry you but I don't know how much you weigh or how tall you are but ballerinas have to be skinny because you don't want to put extra weight on there toes that will make them hurt Lot more so you might want to go vegetarian if you are a little chubby if your not chubby then just don't drink non diet soda only diet if you are going to drink it and don't eat junk food and always bring band-aids lots and lots of band-aids put band-aids on all you toes that will help with blisters and I hope you get you pointe shoes soon and good luck P.S wish me good luck too my class is in 1 week 5 days !!!!!

  6. Pressing your feet against the wall like some of the little girls on here said is a bad idea.  You can actually weaken your ankles and injure yourself trying to do this.  Don't force anything into place.  Instead, do things to strengthen your hip flexors and butt muscles.  One exercise is something I refer to as butt crunches.  You lay down on your back with your feet flat on the floor so your knees are bent.  Your arms should be parallel to the rest of the body with your hands next to your knees.  Clench your bum cheeks together like you're holding in a f**t and lift your butt off the ground pretty much as high as you can get it.  Hold it there for a beat, and then slowly relax it down.  That's the simple version.  If you want more excercises, you can email me.

  7. try these exercises:

i've tried some of them, and they helped

  8. All your ballet barre work is for your turn out. Plies in all positions are done to give you strength and work your turn out.  This is why you see professional ballerinas still doing the same barre work beginners do.

NO you can not go up on your toes in slippers. You will just injure yourself and then you won't be going on pointe for a longer period of time.
