  1. There probably are distant relatives and former royal families, but unfortunately most were wiped out by the revolution.  I do remember reading somewhere that the person who is closest in line lives in America.

  2. Well, the Bolsheviks pretty much killed off the Romanovs that remained in Russia after they took power, but many Romanovs fled.  I know the Romanovs live in Europe, but I'm not sure any of them live in Russia now that the Soviet Union is no more.  The current head of the Romanov family (the man who would be Tsar) was recently in Russia for a ceremony honoring the slain Tsar and his family and while there, I heard an interview with him on the BBC, but it was uclear weather he resides in Russia.-I believe he's technically a Grand Duke or a Prince and they use the same old Romanov coat of arms.

  3. The only known US living descendent of the Russian Dynasty was Theodore. He was the only son of HSH Prince Nikita Romanov (born May 13, 1923 in London, England - May 3, 2007). Theodore committed suicide in Pompano Beach, Florida on August 25, 2007.

The Romanov family continues to exist today. The proper line of succession to the Russian throne is contested, but despite the collapse of the Soviet Union, it seems unlikely that the Romanovs will regain the throne in the near future. The Russian people have so far evidenced little popular support for the resurrection of a Russian monarchy, even on a constitutional basis.

The Monarchy of Russia was abolished in 1917 following the February Revolution, which forced Tsar Nicholas II to abdicate. The current Pretender is open to debate.

In 1979, seven male and female dynasts founded the Romanov Family Association. The Romanov Family Association, is an organization for male-line descendants of Emperor Paul I of Russia. The president is Nicholas Romanov, Prince of Russia.

  4. Some extra information.

Heads of the Romanov Dynasty since 1924 (not ruling)

Cyril Vladimirovich, Grand Duke of Russia (1924 - 1938)

Vladimir Cyrillovich, Grand Duke of Russia (1938 - 1992)

Maria Vladimirovna, Grand Duchess of Russia (1992 - Present)

Grand Duke George Mikhailovich of Russia, heir apparent and son of Maria Vladimirovna

Nicholas Romanov, Prince of Russia (1992 - Present)

Prince Dimitri Romanovich of Russia, brother of Nicholas Romanov

    I can't send a coat of arms through E-mail

  5. the romanov family is still alive some are still in russia others are in other countries but the family is still conciderd rayalty and they have the right to reclaim the thrown....the head of the family is diputed by 2 persons one of the is dutches somthing and the other guy is a prince...there title is theire imperial highness.......the coat of arms is the coat of arms of russia the same 2 headed bird.....

  6. I think Britain's Prince Michael of Kent may have a close link to the royalty. He's a decendant of Grand Duke Michael Alexandrovich of Russia who was once second in line to the Russian throne before Alexei came along. The Grand Duke was murdered along with the Tsar and leaves beind strong links that make Prince Michael a good candidate.
