I have done some research, but found little in the way of error coins. The must run virtually mistake free mints in Europe.

  1. No they do make errors at European mints. There are doubled dies like the 1955 U.S. cent. The rest of the world is just not as crazy about errors. U.S. coins have gone way up in price so now people are looking for something else to find and errors fit that bill. There are very few error coins that are as dramatic as the 1955 doubled die but have seen doubled die coins for Mexico as well as South America. There are some from the days of the German states as well as Great Britain. Most of the coins date before the 1940's. There are a lot out there but no collectors except in the country that minted them.
