  1. yes  they have more now than they used to have. They usually have a warning sign before you reach them

  2. Yes, a few thousands have been installed but it is still a lot less than in the UK. Anyway, there is always a warning sign before any camera.

  3. The French used to be very laissez-faire about speed, but are becoming as neurotic as the rest of the world. Or at least are attempting to...

    Anyway:

    or if you speak French:

And the French like them this much:

  4. Don't speed then you won't have to worry about them.

  5. tom tom

  6. They look like a big square grey box.

I just got done 3 days ago at the junction for the airport turn off in bordeaux.

  7. Harder to spot than in the UK, also a few are dummies.

Unless you get pulled by the police for speeding, a UK registered car flagged would not at present be followed up.

  8. yes there are.

a bit smaller than their english equivalent.

look like a small black box at about head level.

  9. they look like a one eyes robot with a square face looking at you

anyway who gives a *****?if you are flashed by these cameras as a foreigner with a foreign driver s license what are the fernch gonna do? send the foreign legion to get you to pay your fine?

fine goes down the drain so do not worry

  10. Try Google Search on (French Speed Camera.) for a selection of relevant  articles.

Note that in car speed detection devices are not legal in France

"The ban on speed detection devices, widespread throughout mainland Europe, also extends to Spain from the summer when the installation and use of a radar detector becomes an offence.

Drivers with speed detection devices fitted to their cars can face a jail sentence, a driving ban, having their vehicle confiscated or paying a huge fine if they take them to many parts of Europe.

While the radar and laser detectors, which warn motorists of speed enforcement equipment in the vicinity, have been legal to own and use in the UK since 1999, many other European countries ban them and impose stringent sentences for having them fitted in the vehicle – even when they are not operational.

Punishment for carrying or using such a device can vary from possible imprisonment in Luxembourg and the Republic of Ireland, to the loss of licence and car and a fine of up to £1000 in France."

    see RAC reference below.
