  2. The only free hot springs there are, are the ones that are completely natural. Hot springs that are basically a man made pool need maintenance and the owner of the spring wants to make money which is why they have a right to charge you.

  3. Yes, there are free hot springs in BC.  I am not going to tell you where they are, as they are currently pristine and relatively untouched.  If we told you where they were, tourists would destroy the natural environment.

    Hot Springs cost money to visit since they cost money to maintain.  You will not be sitting in a mountain stream while a baby deer eats berries next to you.  It is basically a swimming pool, complete with change rooms, a gift shop, etc.  The difference is the water is heated naturally by an underground spring.  You still need to pay for the infrastructure of the pool and it's buildings.
