It's different strokes for different folks it seems - one answerer said no to data entry, but recommended dropshipping and paid surveys. I've tried both of those as well as data entry, and found data entry to be a more profitable option. However it does depend on the site you join and there's scams everywhere so you have to be really careful. Data Entry Made Easy is legitimate and I make money with it, although you'll probably find along with every other program it gets some bad press as well as good. Unfortunately, there's work involved but it really isn't hard, even for a beginner. I found a few sites reviewing it:

There are real jobs out there, you just got to know where to look. To start getting educated about work at home jobs you need to visit http://www.wahm.com message boards and read, read, read. There is tons of information there that will help you avoid scams. Next, go to http://www.workathomedesk.com which is a free site that has a directory of legitimate companies that hire home workers. Depending on your skills and experience, you should find some good leads there.

NO data entry. There isn't much good around Data entry and I would never advice anyone to do it, prsonally I wouldn't touch it with a stick, but hey that's just me.

I know of 3 genuine, easy start up options available on the net.

1: DROPSHIPPING

Which I recommend because it's fool proof when done right.  

You join a wholesale company and buy items at wholesale prices (Wiis, iphones...whatever). You sell the products on Ebay for a nice little profit. The wholesale company will then simply ship the item to the buyer's address (which is what dropsipping is), You almost never have to handle the product.

2: AFFILIATE MARKETING

Probably the most lucrative option (it makes up about 70% of my internet earning). but also the most time consuming.

You promote a company's products by signing up as an affiliate. You will be given a unique URL and  everytime a sale is made through your unique URL, you get a commission (these are usually quite high commissions - often going up to as high as 75% in commission for every sale.)

I can't explain it all here, to learn the tricks on the Affilite Marketing game I suggest you read one of these.

I would recommend the rich jerk if you are on a budget, it's only $10 and even though it's quite outdated it will teach you enough for you to decide if affiliate marketing is for you.

3: PAID SURVEYS

It's like a good data entry opportunity and if you were looking for something on par to data entry then I WOULD advice paid surveys

The easiest of the 3 also potentially the least earner, you are paid to fillout surveys from small companies to companies as big as Microsoft & Coca Cola. Surveys pay on average $10 per survey and each survey lasts on average about 10 minutes.
