Are there any good, active homeschool groups near Jasper or South Pittsburg, TN?

We just moved to this area, and because of the timing and all that's been going on, we put our son in public school after homeschooling for 5 years. He attended a military academy last year and did pretty well, but so far, school has been a real disaster here. The curriculum is way below what he is capable of doing and he gets bored a lot. I know he has Asperger's although we're just now having him tested for it (stubborn hubby), and he forgets to turn in his work, or to even bring home his assignments. Because of this he was failing a lot of his classes, but the teachers let him make up or redo the work. I have not been too happy about the communication between the teachers and us as parents. I'm really wanting to homeschool again next year, but I also want to have more opportunities for our son. Before we moved we took classes that the local college had for homeschoolers, were involved with HS groups, did a lot of fieldtrips, hands on activities, TKD. . .now we're too far away

  1. I am not from that area but I did a little research...

You might want to call Jasper Adventist Christian School (You'll have to look up their phone # - I didn't want to post it).

I'll bet they have knowledge of homeschool groups in the area.

Also, check tnhomeed.com (link below) - they have a fairly good list of TN homeschool support groups.

This may sound weird, but if neither of the above work out, call and ask the library.  Us homeschoolers are always hanging out there.  The librarian just might know!

    Hope this helps a little...
